Extra Curricular Activities
We would not encourage anyone to solely concentrate on their studies. One of the most important aspects of your time here is to develop as a person as well as as a student.South West Bristol Post 16 Centre is proud of its Specialist Sports College Status and the wide range of sporting activities on offer reflects this. If there is a sport that is not on offer, but you would be keen to participate in, then we would encourage you to seek out the PE department and see if there is room for this activity to be added.
On Wednesday afternoons we run a formal enrichment programme which gives you the chance to take time off away from your academic studies.
As well as the enrichment programme there are many other areas of school life that you can get involved in. Each year we put on a musical production at the end of the Christmas term and students are encouraged to participate. So far students have not only performed in productions ranging from Grease to Cinderella, but have also acted as Stage Manager and Assistant Director.
Post 16 students have also taken an active role in fundraising for local, national and international charities through several fundraising activities. Each year students raise money and equipment for a school in Kenya and will spend 3 weeks there helping to build new classrooms and working on community projects.
Each year we run a 'Rag Week' packed full of fun activities (bed races, quizes, karaoke, staff student sport to name a few) to raise money for charity.
Remember, universities and employers are looking to see you as a person, not just a number so the more experiences and skills that you can offer the better!
