An Evening with Dr.Ed Coats

Ed Coats was chosen to join James Cracknell and Ben Fogle on the first ever race to the South Pole in 2009. Ed, James and Ben skied for 473 miles across Antarctica, for 16 hours a day in temperatures as low as -50 degrees celcius.

The whole trip was filmed for the BBC2 documentary series ‘On Thin Ice’ which was shown last year.

130 people came for the evening to hear Ed talk about his experiences and share his stories from a trip of a lifetime! We saw some unseen footage from the BBC programme and got an insight into the challenges that personally faced them as a group throughout the time they were in Antarctica. It really was an eye opener and certainly left the audience feeling that anything is achievable if you work hard and set your aspirations sky high!

All guests enjoyed a relaxing evening and were treated to some delicious curries from Al’s Tikka Grill Curry House who very kindly sponsored the event!

Thank you to all who came along and supported the event! The evening raised approximately £1200 for the South Africa Netball Tour!
