Envision Launch Event

Envision sets its sights on empowering Ashton Park 6th Form Students

In contrast to the negative publicity that young people have been receiving following the recent riots, charity Envision is working with over 250 students from Bristol over the next year as part of its successful citizenship programme. Last year's programme saw students from 11 schools develop and implement a wide range of community projects - demonstrating clearly that they are engaged with the issues going on around them.

On Wed 9th November, over 150 students from fifteen schools and colleges across Bristol and the surrounding area, including six students from Ashton Park, came together for a unique day of workshops, talks and entertainment, with the aim of inspiring them to develop their own local community projects and campaigns.

The event, at the Future Inn Hotel, provided an opportunity for young people to learn more about social, environmental and community issues and discuss the causes that matter to them. They took part in a range of taster skills sessions and workshops, covering areas such as leadership and decision making.

The students from Ashton Park are going to tackle the issue of riots and people’s perceptions of young people in Bristol over the next year during their enrichment programme.
